Handcuffed, 9 Batam Casino Gambling Suspects Arrive at Bareskrim
The Mobile Investigation Unit (Satresmob) of the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim Polri) brought nine suspects in a casino gambling case at Nine Stage Lounge and Bar in Batam, Riau Islands, to Jakarta. The nine suspects will undergo further examination at National Police Headquarters.
detikcom observed at Bareskrim Polri, South Jakarta, on Tuesday (18/8/2026), that the suspects arrived at 15.33 WIB. With their hands handcuffed, the perpetrators were escorted by officers into the Bareskrim building.
“That is correct, nine suspects along with evidence in the Batam casino case were brought to Bareskrim for in-depth examination. They consist of seven male suspects and two females,” said Head of Satresmob Bareskrim Polri, Senior Commissioner Arsya Khadafi, to reporters.
In addition to the suspects, investigators appeared to be carrying several suitcases and a medium-sized package. However, there was no information yet regarding the contents of the suitcases.
“It will be conveyed in full during the press release,” said Arsya.
Bareskrim Polri raided casino gambling activities at Nine Stage Lounge and Bar located at Ruko Nagoya Indah Block B2 Number 9, Batu Selicin, Batam. In the operation, a total of 197 people were detained.
Deputy Chief of Bareskrim Polri, Inspector General Nunung Syaifuddin, said the raid was carried out on Saturday (15/8) at around 21.30 WIB. The operation was conducted after police carried out an investigation for approximately 2 to 3 months.
“This action originated not only from public information, but also from information from my colleagues in Batam and from the media. We then took a step to raid or take action against casino-type gambling activities,” said Nunung at Barelang Police Station on Sunday (16/8).
Of the total 197 people detained during the raid, police identified various roles, from owners to players. They consisted of:

2 managers
5 cashiers
1 supervisor
25 chip exchangers
65 dealers or croupiers
2 marketing staff
96 players
Of the 96 players arrested, 10 were foreign nationals. “The details are seven Chinese nationals, two Singaporean nationals, and one Malaysian national. The other 86 were Indonesian citizens,” he added.
In the raid, police also seized evidence of cash in a fantastic amount. The total money secured reached Rp 7.79 billion.
The money was found at several locations, including three safes containing Rp 7 billion, cash from chip exchange activities amounting to Rp 500 million, and other cash totalling Rp 297.2 million.
