Hancock opens new office

JAKARTA (JP): American Consul General Robert A. Pollard opened
the PT Bumiputera John Hancock life insurance sales and service
center in Surabaya, East Java, on Monday.

"Surabaya is the second largest city in Indonesia and has an
excellent reputation for business and industry," David Cottrell,
president director of the company, said at the opening ceremony.

John Hancock began operations in Indonesia over 20 years ago
and established a joint venture with Asuransi Jiwa Bersama
Bumiputera 1912 to provide benefits for employees of
multinational companies in 1987. (06)
