Hanania Travel Victims Testify in Parliament: Cancelled Six Hours Before Departure While Already at the Airport

A representative of Hanania Travel victims has revealed that many prospective pilgrims experienced sudden cancellations of their Umrah departures, with some receiving the news only after they had already arrived at the airport. This was disclosed by one of the victims’ representatives, Uli Amelia Septriani, during a hearing with Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives at the Parliamentary Complex in Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Thursday, 18 June 2026. The meeting was chaired directly by Commission III Chairman Habiburokhman and attended by the Directorate of General Criminal Investigation of the Metro Jaya Regional Police. She recounted that the departure cancellation occurred on 25 March 2026. “The worst case was on the 25th, when the cancellation was made six hours before departure. There were pilgrims already at the airport, fully dressed in their uniforms,” Uli said during the hearing. Uli explained that the impact of the Hanania Travel case was not only material loss, but also psychological and health consequences, as many elderly prospective pilgrims fell ill. “I personally witnessed how immense the suffering of my fellow victims has been. So many elderly people fell sick upon hearing about the cancellation. Many children had to lie to their parents just to prevent them from becoming ill after learning they would not be going to the Holy Land,” she said. “Involved in this are the savings of orphans, single parents, and hard workers who dreamed of setting foot at least once in their lifetime in the Holy Land,” she continued. According to data independently compiled by the victims, there are approximately 3,000 prospective pilgrims whose departures were cancelled as a result of the Hanania Travel case. Uli then urged the government to step in and provide a solution for the thousands of victims of the Hanania Group. “So please, make us the last victims. Provide a solution. Talking about the future is fine, but please help us now—what is the solution? We did not steal, we did not rob, we are only asking for what is rightfully ours to be returned,” Uli concluded.
