Thariq Halilintar has admitted to receiving an endorsement for performing the umrah pilgrimage from PT Khazanah Tamma Internasional, also known as Hanania Group. This was conveyed by Thariq’s legal representative, Sangun Ragahdo, after being questioned as a witness in the case of alleged fraud and embezzlement of umrah travel funds involving Hanania Travel. Thariq was examined alongside his wife, Aaliyah Massaid, for approximately seven hours. Ragahdo explained that Hanania Travel had initially attempted to contact Thariq several times, even before his marriage to Aaliyah. Then, in 2025, Hanania Travel again invited Thariq to collaborate in the form of an endorsement. He stated that the benefits Thariq and Aaliyah received were being dispatched for umrah, in exchange for promoting the brand through social media posts and stories. Before departing, Thariq had researched Hanania Travel and found it to appear credible, leading him to accept the cooperation offer. Under the agreement, Hanania Travel provided a complimentary umrah trip for Thariq, Aaliyah, and their child. However, the couple also brought along other family members, making a total group of eight people. Ragahdo stated that Thariq paid nearly Rp170 million for the travel costs of these additional companions, covering expenses outside the complimentary package such as meals and mutawif fees. Thariq expressed shock upon learning about the alleged fraud case involving Hanania Travel earlier this year and conveyed his sympathy to the victims who failed to depart for their pilgrimage. Director of Hanania Group, Ahmad Syah Farhan, has been named a suspect and detained, charged under articles of the new Criminal Code. Preliminary investigations revealed that funds deposited by prospective pilgrims were used for purposes outside the congregation’s departure process and to pay several influencers for promoting umrah packages.
