The General Criminal Investigation Directorate (Ditreskrimum) of the Metro Jaya Regional Police has uncovered the modus operandi of suspect ASFR (30), the President Director of PT Khazanah Tamma Internasional, also known as the Hanania Group, in a case of alleged fraud and embezzlement of Umrah pilgrimage funds. The suspect is strongly suspected of using the deposits from pilgrims to cover the company’s internal financial problems and other personal interests unrelated to Umrah services.

The Director of General Criminal Investigation of Metro Jaya Regional Police, Kombes Pol Iman Imanuddin, explained that this fraudulent practice was revealed following reports from victims who failed to depart for the Holy Land. “The suspect is suspected of using pilgrims’ funds to cover financial problems and for other purposes outside the interests of the victimised pilgrims,” Iman stated during a press conference in Jakarta on Tuesday (2/6/2026).

Based on preliminary investigation results, the police have examined 38 victims, with verified losses amounting to Rp4.2 billion. However, the total potential losses based on all reports from pilgrims reach a much larger figure. “Meanwhile, based on reports received from the complainants and other pilgrims, the total reported losses reach Rp12,145,000,000,” revealed Iman.

As a law enforcement measure, investigators have named ASFR as a suspect since Friday, 29 May 2026. The suspect is currently officially detained at the Detention and Evidence Directorate of the Metro Jaya Regional Police to undergo further legal processes. The Metro Jaya Regional Police continue to conduct in-depth investigations by examining witnesses and collecting additional evidence to strengthen the legal construction of this case. Given the large number of victims, the police have also opened a complaint post service.

“Metro Jaya Regional Police will handle this matter professionally and proportionally,” emphasized Iman. Members of the public who believe they are victims of the Hanania Group travel agency are urged to report immediately to the provided complaint post to assist in the process of asset mapping and the recovery of pilgrims’ losses.
