Hamzah to visit Batam

BATAM, Riau: Vice President Hamzah Haz is scheduled to make a two-day visit to Batam island, starting on Friday. Hamzah, who is an economist, is expected to open a seminar organized by the Indonesian Association of Economists (ISEI) and to open a women's painting exhibition on Saturday.

Hamzah will also attend a get-together with supporters of the United Development Party (PPP), the third-largest party, which he leads, at Batam Center mosque.

Almost 100 roadside vendors' stalls have been cleared from the route that the Vice president is scheduled to pass during the visit. --Antara
