Hamzah to visit Batam

BATAM, Riau: Vice President Hamzah Haz is scheduled to make a
two-day visit to Batam island, starting on Friday. Hamzah, who is
an economist, is expected to open a seminar organized by the
Indonesian Association of Economists (ISEI) and to open a women's
painting exhibition on Saturday.

Hamzah will also attend a get-together with supporters of the
United Development Party (PPP), the third-largest party, which he
leads, at Batam Center mosque.

Almost 100 roadside vendors' stalls have been cleared from the
route that the Vice president is scheduled to pass during the
