Hamzah opposes plan to attack Iraq

JAKARTA: Vice President Hamzah Haz condemned on Monday the
plan of the United States to attack Iraq.

"Of course," Hamzah said, responding to journalists's
questions at his office on whether Indonesia would condemn an
attack by the United States on Iraq.

Hamzah said no country had the right to attack another, adding
that it would have an adverse effect on other countries working
to recover from their economic problems.

The Vice President cited President Megawati Soekarnoputri's
suggestion that the plan for the attack should be brought to the
United Nations for further consideration. -- JP
