Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - CNBC Indonesia has compiled a list of 10 currencies with the lowest value against the United States dollar. The measurement is simple: the more units of local currency needed to obtain US$1, the lower the currency’s value against the US dollar.

It should be noted that a large exchange rate does not automatically mean that a country’s economy is the worst. The size of the exchange rate can be influenced by many things, ranging from long-standing inflation, monetary policy, market conditions, to the history of currency redenomination in the country.

This list shows which currencies require the most nominal amount to be exchanged for one US dollar, thus reflecting a lower value of the currency against the dollar.

The Iranian Rial is the currency with the lowest value against the US dollar. To get US$1, approximately 1,318,130 Iranian Rials are needed.

The next position is occupied by the Lebanese pound with an exchange rate of around 89,500 per US$1, followed by the Vietnamese dong at 26,350 per US$1, the Sierra Leonean leone at 22,683 per US$1, and the Lao kip at 21,808 per US$1.

The Rupiah’s exchange rate is also included in the top 10. The Garuda currency is currently at Rp17,460 per US$1, placing it in sixth position on the list of currencies with the lowest value against the US dollar.

After the Rupiah, there is the Uzbek som with an exchange rate of 12,072 per US$1, the Guinean franc at 8,735 per US$1, the Paraguayan guarani at 6,081 per US$1, and the Madagascan ariary at 4,158 per US$1.
