Hamdani to face KPU graft trial
JAKARTA: The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said on
Thursday that they have completed the case file on General
Elections Commission (KPU) treasurer Hamdani Amin who is accused
of corruption at the national poll body.
"The case file will be submitted (with the Anticorruption
Court) on Friday," KPK prosecutor Wisnu Baroto said.
He said the suspect is charged with misusing so-called
tactical funds collected from partner firms that won tenders from
the KPU to provide election materials.
Hamdani is also accused of corruption over the provision of
insurance for election officials and staff.
Wisnu said the case file mentions around 40 witnesses
including KPU chairman Nazaruddin Syamsuddin and his deputy
Ramlan Surbakti, who will testify in the trial of Hamdani.
Nazaruddin has also been detained over the same case by the
KPK, while another KPU member Mulyana Wira Kusumah is on trial
for allegedly trying to bribe state auditors who examined funds
for last year's general elections. --Antara
