Hamdan Zoelva Claims Corruption Court Ignores Many Key Facts in Kerry Riza Case

Jakarta – The beneficial owner of PT Orbit Terminal Merak (OTM), Muhammad Kerry Adrianto Riza, through his legal team, has requested that the panel of judges at the Jakarta High Court summon and present businessman Irawan Prakoso as a witness in the appeal hearing for the alleged corruption case involving oil management and refinery derivative products.

This is because Irawan is a key witness in the alleged corruption case of oil management that ensnares Kerry Riza.

Kerry Riza’s lawyer, Hamdan Zoelva, stated that since the first appeal hearing, his side has requested the Jakarta High Court panel to present Irawan Prakoso as a witness.

The panel of judges approved the request from Kerry Riza’s side at that time. However, in the hearing on Thursday, 7 May, the panel of judges ultimately refused and rejected presenting Irawan Prakoso.

“We have already requested it from the judge; yes, in the first hearing, and it was approved. But when determining the summoning as a witness, his name was not there. During the hearing, we requested again for witness Irawan Prakoso to be presented because he is a key witness,” said Hamdan Zoelva during a press conference in Jakarta on Tuesday, 12 May 2026.

Hamdan Zoelva emphasised that Irawan Prakoso is a key witness in the oil management and refinery derivative case at Pertamina that ensnares his client. This is because Irawan Prakoso is mentioned as the connector between businessman Riza Chalid and several Pertamina executives.

In fact, prosecutors accused Riza Chalid, through Irawan, of pressuring or intervening with former President Director of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Alfian Nasution and former Director of Marketing and Trading at PT Pertamina Hanung Budya Yuktyanta regarding the leasing of OTM’s fuel terminal.

“Why is he a key witness? This is what connects, yes, between Mohamad Riza Chalid, Irawan Prakoso, Hanung, and Alfian. Irawan Prakoso’s testimony is very determining as to whether there was indeed pressure from Mohamad Riza Chalid or direction from Mohamad Riza Chalid regarding the OTM leasing,” he said.

“Therefore, we still hope that witness Irawan Prakoso will be presented because there is still a case from Gading that will go to trial so that he can be presented in the proceedings,” Hamdan Zoelva added.

In addition, Hamdan Zoelva said that his side has also requested a shipping expert to be presented and his testimony heard in the appeal hearing. However, the judge has not yet granted that request.
