Hambali's wife assists police

MALAYSIA: The wife of top Asian terror suspect Hambali is cooperating with interrogators in Malaysia, police chief Norian Mai said on Monday.

Malaysian-born Noralwizah Lee Abdullah is providing information on the activities of the al-Qaeda-linked Jamaah Islamiyah (JI) terror network, Norian told reporters.

Noralwizah was arrested along with her Indonesian husband in Thailand last month and handed over to the Malaysian authorities, while Hambali himself is in U.S. custody.

Norian gave no details of the sort of information Noralwizah was providing and said police were still awaiting U.S. permission to interrogate Hambali, who lived in Malaysia for several years.

Hambali, also known as Riduan Isamuddin, is said to have been the main link between Osama bin Laden's al-Qaeda and JI. --AFP
