Hamas Delegation Heads to Cairo for Gaza Ceasefire Implementation Talks
A Hamas delegation is scheduled to hold meetings with Egyptian government officials and mediators in Cairo to discuss the implementation of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip. The meeting will focus on the execution of the previously reached agreement and the development of the humanitarian situation in the region.
Taher al-Nunu, political adviser to the Hamas leader, stated that the delegation’s main agenda is to address the escalating violations that Hamas claims Israel is still committing in the Gaza Strip. “The delegation’s agenda prioritises halting the escalation of Israeli violations in the Gaza Strip and the daily crimes of murder and premeditated killing,” al-Nunu said, as reported by Anadolu on Tuesday (30/6).
Furthermore, Hamas will seek guarantees that Israel will allow the full entry of all humanitarian necessities into Gaza, including various materials required to repair vital facilities. “Hamas will also seek guarantees that Israel allows the full entry of Gaza’s needs, including materials needed to repair hospitals, bakeries, and infrastructure, as well as implementing the remaining provisions of the Sharm el-Sheikh agreement,” he added.
Al-Nunu explained that the Cairo meeting will also continue discussions on a roadmap drawn up by Nikolay Mladenov, the High Representative for the Peace Council for Gaza, together with mediators as part of preparations for the second phase of the agreement’s implementation. According to him, the roadmap contains a number of follow-up steps expected to support the peace process. “The roadmap includes the entry of an administrative committee and international protection forces, leading to Israel’s full withdrawal from all areas of the Gaza Strip,” he said.
Hamas affirmed its commitment to continue pushing for an agreement that can end the conflict and improve the condition of the Palestinian people. “We are serious about reaching an agreement that ends the suffering of our people, stops the crimes of the occupation, and makes progress in restoring our people’s political rights, especially freedom and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state,” al-Nunu continued.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health reported that the death toll from alleged ceasefire violations by Israel since the agreement came into effect in October 2025 has reached 1,053 people, while 3,406 others have been injured. On the other hand, Israel is also said to still be restricting the entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip, even though the distribution amount of such aid had been previously agreed upon in the ceasefire agreement.
