Hamas Continues Regular Consultations with Russia on Palestinian Settlement

Moscow (ANTARA) - The Palestinian movement Hamas is routinely consulting with Russia regarding the process of resolving the Palestinian conflict and the broader situation in the region, stated Musa Abu Marzouk, Deputy Head of the Hamas Political Office.

“Meetings between Hamas and the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs take place regularly. We travel to Moscow on a regular basis, and during these visits, we discuss all political aspects related to the Palestinian issue as well as the overall situation in the region,” he told RIA Novette, as published on Wednesday.

Previously, a Hamas delegation visited Moscow to hold talks and discuss several issues, including the implementation of the Gaza resolution plan proposed by US President Donald Trump.

Last week, a meeting took place between Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Georgy Borisenko and Abu Marzouk. Both parties discussed the necessity of ensuring a sustainable ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

In mid-November, the United Nations Security Council approved a resolution submitted by the United States to support Trump’s comprehensive plan for resolving the situation in Gaza. Thirteen out of the 15 council members voted in favour, while Russia and China chose to abstain.

The United States plan for Gaza proposes the establishment of a temporary international administration in the Gaza territory and the formation of a peace council led by Trump. Additionally, the plan includes the deployment of international stabilisation forces.
