Hamas Affirms Commitment to Gaza Peace Plan Despite Israeli Rejection

The Palestinian resistance group Hamas has affirmed its commitment to adhering to the roadmap for continuing the second phase of the Gaza peace plan, despite its rejection by Israel. In a statement on Sunday, Hamas said it is serious about engaging responsibly in the implementation of the 15-point plan and has drawn up a clear schedule for its execution.

The priority at this stage must be to ensure the implementation of all phases and obligations within the agreement, Hamas stated. The organisation said the process must culminate in a permanent ceasefire, an end to Israeli attacks, the full withdrawal of Israeli forces, the reopening of border crossings, and the entry of humanitarian aid and supplies for displaced persons.

The process should also pave the way for the commencement of reconstruction efforts in Gaza and allow the National Committee for Gaza Administration to promptly exercise its authority. Hamas called on mediators, guarantors, and the Board of Peace to shoulder their responsibilities in ensuring all parties comply with the agreement and prevent violations that could disrupt implementation or derail the ceasefire.

The Palestinian group also expressed its commitment to continue engaging positively and responsibly with efforts to finalise the implementation of the agreement, end the suffering of the Palestinian people in Gaza, and protect their national rights and interests. Earlier the same day, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared Israel’s rejection of the 15-point plan approved by the Board of Peace for Gaza. He stated that Israeli forces would not withdraw from Palestinian territory until the complete disarmament of Hamas is carried out.
