Halla Group in RI venture

SEOUL (Reuter): South Korea's Halla Group said it would build
a cement plant with an annual production capacity of 3.5 million
tons and other facilities in Indonesia.

A Halla spokesman said the group has signed a memorandum of
understanding with Indonesia's West Sumatra administration to
participate in the provincial government's projects.

Included in the projects are a new international airport,
cold-storage facilities for fishery products, a pulp plant and a
paper mill in the region, he said.

He said Halla would sign a separate deal on each specific
project after Indonesia releases further details, he said.

The spokesman said West Sumatra also agreed to support Halla's
activities in importing timber from West Sumatra.

Halla focuses on construction and cement, machinery and paper
manufacturing sectors.
