Halim Perdanakusuma Airport Closure Extended until 14:00 WIB
Halim Perdanakusuma Airport has extended its temporary closure until Sunday (6/9) at 14:00 WIB. This closure is related to the ongoing activity of Mount Anak Krakatau.
The information was provided by the General Manager of Operations at Halim Perdanakusuma, Colonel Pnb Ali Sudibyo. “The closure of Halim Airport has been extended until 14:00 WIB. The NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) has been extended until 14:00 WIB,” Ali Sudibyo stated.
Located in East Jakarta, the airport was previously under a temporary closure scheduled until 10:00 WIB. However, based on the current situation, the decision was made to extend the closure until 14:00 WIB.
The closure is a direct consequence of volcanic ash resulting from the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau. The eruptions began in the early hours of Saturday (5/9) WIB and recurred in the early hours of Sunday (6/9) WIB.
Monitoring on Sunday (6/9) morning confirmed that volcanic ash has spread across the provinces of Banten, DKI Jakarta, West Java, and Lampung.
