Half of Its Graduates Absorbed into the Workforce, UIN Jakarta Enhances Competitiveness
The competitiveness of graduates from UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta is increasingly demonstrating an impressive trend. Not only are they quickly absorbed into the workforce, but now nearly half of them have even started working before their official graduation. The Tracer Study report from the UIN Jakarta Career Centre reveals an interesting phenomenon: in 2025, 49.69% of graduates reported having obtained employment before completing their studies. This figure has increased significantly compared to 44.41% in 2024 and 38.00% in 2023. This finding serves as a strong signal that UIN Jakarta students are becoming more adaptive and capable of meeting workforce needs while still on campus. Although the overall percentage of graduates who were employed in 2025 was recorded at 49.72%—a slight decrease from 61.06% in 2024 and 62.71% in 2023—this trend does not reflect any weakening. On the contrary, the shift is due to more students being absorbed into employment before graduation. Moreover, the waiting period for jobs among graduates is becoming shorter. As many as 44.51% of 2025 graduates succeeded in obtaining employment within less than six months after graduation—increasing from previous years. Conversely, the number of graduates who must wait a long time continues to shrink drastically. Those who only got jobs in the 6–18 month range dropped sharply from 19.73% in 2023 to just 5.34% in 2025. Even those waiting more than 18 months now stand at only 0.39%. The Head of the UIN Jakarta Career Centre, Muhammad Kholis Hamdy, emphasised that this achievement is the result of the campus’s consistent strategy to bring students closer to the professional world. “Today’s students cannot excel solely in academics. They must possess skills relevant to industry needs—from communication, digital literacy, leadership, to internship experience,” he stated.
