JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto entertained requests for selfies and hugged citizens during the Eid al-Fitr open house held at Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Saturday (21/3/2026).

The President also appeared to greet and shake hands with the public who had been waiting for his arrival after performing the Eid al-Fitr prayers. He was accompanied by his son, Didit Prabowo.

Joyful expressions were evident on the faces of citizens as they shook hands with the president.

This annual tradition serves as a moment of reconnection between the Head of State and the public on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah.

Previously, State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi stated that the President would tour to greet the attendees at the event.

“Insyaallah, as in the previous year, he will later tour to greet the public who wish to attend to celebrate Eid al-Fitr at Merdeka Palace,” Prasetyo said.

He estimated the number of attendees to be around 4,000 to 5,000 people. The government did not limit the number of citizens who could attend the palace.

“As long as it is still possible, the public is welcome to enter the Merdeka Palace grounds,” he said.

“He does not want to trouble them because there might be family agendas or events. So this afternoon is specifically open for the general public,” Prasetyo added.
