Haikal stated that halal certification is no longer viewed merely as an administrative obligation but has evolved into a market necessity and a symbol of modern industrial advancement.

“Welcome to the Halal Industry. Halal has become for all, for everyone, for everybody, not just for Muslims, but halal is more of a symbol for advanced business that aligns with the needs of modern civilisation,” said Haikal in a written statement on Tuesday (13/5/2026).

This was conveyed during the APSKI Members’ Meeting through socialisation and strengthening of understanding of halal regulations for health supplement business actors at the CNI Creative Center Building, Kembangan, West Jakarta, on Tuesday (12/5/2026).

Haikal emphasised that Indonesia has set the implementation of phased mandatory halal certification, or Wajib Halal, in October 2026 for various product categories. This includes food, beverages, cosmetics, consumer goods, slaughtering services and slaughter products, medicines, including health supplement products.

Therefore, Haikal continued, business actors need to understand and promptly adapt to the direction of national policy on halal product assurance, as well as the increasingly competitive global halal ecosystem.

“And our country has set that in October 2026, all food, beverages, medicines, cosmetics, consumer goods, must be halal certified. And I am happy to provide guidance to the business actors in APSKI, so that you understand and comprehend the direction of your business. And this is important to align with the regulations in our country,” he added.

BPJPH views that accelerating halal certification will have a positive impact on the competitiveness of the national industry, expand market access, and increase consumer confidence in domestic products.

“Make halal certification an added value in developing globally competitive business,” he concluded.
