Halal Certification Eases Indonesian MSMEs' Entry into Global Markets: AKUMINDO
The Indonesian Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Association (AKUMINDO) believes that halal certification can help micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) expand their market reach to the international level.
AKUMINDO Secretary-General Edy Misero stated that halal certification adds value to MSME products by increasing the confidence of potential buyers, both domestically and abroad. “With halal certification, it is easier for us to market our products to the global market,” Edy told ANTARA on Monday.
According to Edy, the existence of halal certification is becoming increasingly important for business actors who wish to develop export markets, especially to countries with a majority Muslim population. “Moreover, if we are planning to export to the Middle East, we will receive a better response,” he said.
He stated that halal certification can ultimately open up larger market opportunities for MSMEs. With a wider market, business actors have the chance to increase sales and develop their businesses. “The hope is that turnover will increase, and there will be opportunities for the export market. If we have halal certification, we will be able to see greater opportunities,” he said.
According to Edy, an increase in the number of halal-certified products can help Indonesian MSMEs become more competitive amidst increasingly tight global market competition.
