National Info - Lampung Governor Rahmat Mirzani Djausal attended the halal bihalal of the Southern Sumatra (Sumbagsel) diaspora community at Griya Agung on Saturday, 25 April 2026. The event, attended by representatives from five provinces—South Sumatra, Lampung, Jambi, Bengkulu, and Bangka Belitung—served as a historic moment to strengthen kinship ties across the regions.

The Governor’s presence symbolised the Lampung Provincial Government’s commitment to enhancing synergy and collaboration among areas in Southern Sumatra. Rahmat appreciated the enthusiasm of the attending migrants.

He emphasised that the gathering demonstrated the strong kinship ties of the Sumbagsel community. “This meeting is not about showing strength, but about demonstrating that we are one special lineage. Many national policymakers come from our region,” he said.

Rahmat invited all elements of the Sumbagsel community to continue strengthening synergy in developing their respective regions, in line with the spirit of nationalism. “May this closeness become more tangible in our steps to build the regions, without sidelining other parts of the Archipelago.”

In his statement, Governor Rahmat Mirzani Djausal expressed gratitude and pride over the successful silaturahmi. He viewed the Sumbagsel diaspora halal bihalal as a strategic space to strengthen networks and provide tangible contributions to regional development.

“Alhamdulillah, today we can engage in silaturahmi in the atmosphere of halal bihalal with the Sumbagsel diaspora from five provinces. We are very proud because many cadres from Sumbagsel now hold important positions in the republic,” he said.

He hoped that in the future, those figures and the best sons and daughters from Sumbagsel could play a greater role in accelerating development in their region. “Insya Allah, in the future we want those figures to contribute more significantly to catching up on Sumbagsel’s lag, so that this area becomes more advanced and has strong competitiveness,” he stated.

Rahmat also highlighted Lampung’s strategic position as the gateway to Sumatra Island, which has great potential to support Sumbagsel development. “Lampung, located at the end of Sumatra Island, has a very strategic position in Sumbagsel development. Insya Allah, in the future we will feel the benefits together,” he said.

In his speech, Interior Minister Tito Karnavian emphasised the importance of focusing on achievable development targets within the remaining term until 2029.

He asked the governors in the Sumbagsel region to prepare realistic programmes with direct impacts on the community. “Do not ask for overly ambitious things, especially those that span five years. In the current position of 2027–2029, three years, there may be delayed programmes that can be expedited,” said the Interior Minister Tito.

He exemplified the urgency of accelerating infrastructure projects such as the Trans-Sumatra Toll Road and its supporting routes. According to him, reopening access like the Palembang–Bengkulu route would have a significant impact on economic growth, tourism, and inter-regional connectivity.

In addition, Tito highlighted regional strategic projects that had been delayed, such as Tanjung Carat, which he deemed necessary to revive immediately. He committed to facilitating further coordination with relevant ministries and agencies at the central level.

“We will gather in Jakarta and invite the governors. At least until 2029, there should be something we can leave as a legacy for the Sumbagsel community,” he said.

Meanwhile, Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan emphasised the importance of strengthening synergy and collaboration among provinces in the Sumbagsel region to catch up on national development. According to him, Sumbagsel has substantial capital in terms of history, culture, and natural resources.

However, collective commitment is needed to optimise that potential maximally. “This togetherness and inner bond is essential to optimise and synergise the existing potential in Sumbagsel, certainly for the progress of Indonesia and the Sumbagsel community,” said Zulkifli.
