Hajj Waiting List in Purwakarta Reaches 31 Years
The Hajj and Umrah Ministry office in Purwakarta Regency has recorded a long queue of prospective pilgrims in the area. To date, the waiting list for hajj departure in Purwakarta Regency has reached 31 years.
Head of the Purwakarta Regency Hajj and Umrah Ministry Office, Syamsi Mufti, explained that based on data from the Integrated Hajj Information and Computerisation System (Siskohat), the number of residents registered as prospective pilgrims has reached 16,026 people. These registrants are spread across all sub-districts in Purwakarta Regency.
“From the Siskohat data, there is indeed a potential wait of up to 31 years, because the number of our prospective pilgrims based on the latest data is around 16,026 people. So the queue is indeed long,” said Syamsi on Tuesday (25/8/2026).
The waiting period of three decades is calculated based on Purwakarta Regency’s annual hajj quota, which averages around five hundred people. Nevertheless, public enthusiasm for registering remains high. Syamsi mentioned that every day there are 5 to 10 people registering for the regular hajj.
“Alhamdulillah, the enthusiasm of the people of Purwakarta Regency to register for the regular hajj is increasing. Almost every day there are residents who come to register at the Hajj and Umrah Ministry Office,” he said.
Regarding departure realisation, in 2026 a total of 470 pilgrims from Purwakarta departed for the Holy Land. For the upcoming 2027, Purwakarta Regency’s hajj quota is expected to increase to 630 people.
Despite having to wait a long time, prospective pilgrims remain steadfast in their intention to register. For them, registration is part of effort and patience to be able to perform the pilgrimage to Baitullah.
Syamsi also urged residents who need valid information regarding the organisation of the hajj or umrah pilgrimage not to hesitate to come directly to the Purwakarta Regency Hajj and Umrah Ministry Office. This is important to ensure residents obtain official and accurate information from authorised sources.
