Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah of the Republic of Indonesia, Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak, hopes the construction of the Indonesian Haji Village in Saudi Arabia can be accelerated so that it becomes a one-stop service centre for Indonesian hajj pilgrims.

According to Dahnil, the development of the Haji Village is currently under the coordination of Danantara. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah acts as the user of the facilities to be built.

“The Haji Village is under Danantara’s charge. So Danantara knows best about the progress of the Haji Village. Our position at the Ministry of Hajj is that of a user,” Dahnil said in a special interview with the Republika team at his office in Jakarta on Wednesday (8/7/2026).

He explained that the Haji Village, initiated by President Prabowo Subianto, is expected to accommodate all the needs of Indonesian pilgrims during their time in the Holy Land. The complex will not only serve as accommodation but also as a centre for various services required by pilgrims.

“We certainly hope the Haji Village, which will be built and initiated by the President and handled by Danantara, can accommodate all the activities of our hajj pilgrims, around 200,000 or more people,” he said.

Dahnil said the government’s vision for the Haji Village is an integrated area providing various facilities to support the hajj pilgrimage, ranging from accommodation and health services to economic and transport facilities.

“It will become a single village where our pilgrims stay, where our pilgrims carry out their activities while in Makkah, including having a hospital, economic venues such as shopping centres, as well as service centres, transport and so on,” he explained.

“So we hope the Haji Village will be like one stop services for Indonesian hajj pilgrims,” Dahnil said.
