Hajj Task Force Thwarts Departure of 8 Prospective Pilgrims Using Non-Hajj Visas
Polri has formed the Hajj Task Force in collaboration with the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah to oversee the organisation of the Hajj pilgrimage for Indonesian worshippers. Following its establishment on 14 April, the Hajj Task Force has prevented the departure of eight prospective pilgrims who were using non-Hajj visas.
“Regarding this joint task force, it has actually been operational since the National Police Chief issued the directive, on 14 April,” said Director General of Hajj and Umrah Organisational Control at the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, Harun Al Rasyid, to reporters at Polri Headquarters in South Jakarta on Monday (20/4/2026).
“And yesterday, praise be to God, in the early hours of Saturday, we carried out efforts to thwart it, efforts to prevent Indonesian citizens from performing Hajj using non-Hajj visas,” he added.
Harun stated that the prevention was achieved through cooperation between the Hajj Task Force and immigration at Soekarno-Hatta Airport. Currently, the prevention is under further investigation regarding the prospective pilgrims using non-Hajj visas.
“Yes, good cooperation has been carried out between this task force and assistance from colleagues in immigration at Soekarno-Hatta Airport. And currently, an in-depth investigation is being conducted regarding the mobilisation of these eight Indonesian citizens performing Hajj using non-Hajj visas,” he said.
Harun explained that all involved parties will be thoroughly investigated, whether from the affected side or the travel agencies sending the pilgrims using non-Hajj visas.
“Yes, all involved parties will certainly be investigated in depth, then we will analyse the relationships between each of these parties. Whether from the affected party,” he said.
“Of course, there are pilgrims because they failed to leave Indonesia, there is the travel agency that sent them, there are responsible parties there, all of that will be subject to enforcement actions,” he concluded.
