Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Hajj Task Force, via the Indonesian National Police, is strengthening the protection of Indonesian pilgrims by increasing coordination and cooperation with the authorities of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia ahead of the end of the 1447 Hijri/2026 CE Hajj season.

This reinforcement was conducted through discussions between Deputy Chief of the Indonesian National Police, Commissioner General Dedi Prasetyo, and representatives from the Presidency of State Security (PSS) of Saudi Arabia on Monday (1/6), focusing on Hajj governance and enhanced cooperation.

“Strengthening coordination, utilising technology, increasing public literacy, and fostering synergy between the Hajj Task Force, the Indonesian Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, Indonesian Government representatives in Saudi Arabia, and the authorities of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are key to ensuring Indonesian pilgrims can perform their worship safely, comfortably, and in accordance with regulations,” said the Head of Public Relations for the Indonesian National Police, Inspector General Johnny Eddizon Isir, as quoted from a statement in Jakarta on Tuesday.

During the meeting, both parties agreed to continue strengthening the communication and cooperation that has been well-established, particularly in supporting security, the protection of citizens, the exchange of experience, and the improvement of the quality of services for Hajj pilgrims.

This enhanced cooperation is directed towards improving coordination, information exchange, strengthening institutional capacity, and the use of technology to support the governance and security of the Hajj pilgrimage.

“This step is expected to further strengthen the protection of Indonesian pilgrims from the departure process, the performance of worship in the Holy Land, through to their return to the homeland,” said Johnny.

Furthermore, both parties discussed various experiences and best practices in security management and pilgrim services. Saudi Arabia’s experience in managing millions of pilgrims from various countries using modern technology is considered a valuable reference for improving the quality of large-scale activity management in the future.

On the other hand, the Head of the International Cooperation Bureau of the Saudi PSS, Brigadier General Muhammad Al Qohtoni, expressed appreciation for the long-standing relationship between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia. He noted that Indonesia is a strategic partner that makes a significant contribution to the Hajj pilgrimage and is one of the countries demonstrating excellent cooperation in supporting the smooth delivery of pilgrim services.

Additionally, the PSS noted that the 2026 Hajj implementation is proceeding well thanks to the optimisation of personnel, strengthened coordination, and the use of technology in security and pilgrim service systems.
