Hajj Task Force Established Down to District Police Level to Prevent Potential Criminal Acts
The Hajj Task Force established by the Indonesian National Police (Polri) and the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (Kemenhaj) held a meeting today. One of the topics discussed was the prevention of criminal acts in Hajj organisation.
“This Hajj Task Force is formed down to the district police level. In this regard, we are collaborating with the Ministry of Hajj down to the lower levels, including the Head of the Hajj Office, the Head of the Office at the district/city level,” said Deputy Head of Intelligence and Security of Polri, Inspector General Nanang Rudi Supriatna, during a press conference at Polri Headquarters on Monday (20/4/2026).
Nanang also explained that the task force was formed to guarantee and provide security services to prospective pilgrims, as well as to prevent criminal acts in Hajj organisation.
“There are several matters we discussed, particularly some technical issues. The aim is that we, the Hajj Task Force, are formed to guarantee and provide security services to prospective pilgrims,” he clarified.
“Then, we also prevent the occurrence of criminal acts in this regard in the implementation of Hajj worship,” he added.
Director General of Hajj and Umrah Organisation Control at the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, Harun Al Rasyid, added that Polri Headquarters has a strong commitment to assist Kemenhaj in forming the Hajj Task Force related to the prevention and enforcement of criminal acts in Hajj and Umrah organisation.
“Indeed, we cannot do this alone, which is why we greatly need full support from our friends in the police. So that in the future, regarding efforts to prevent and enforce criminal acts in Hajj and Umrah organisation, we can uphold them,” said Harun.
Kemenhaj receives at least 20 cases reported related to Hajj. He said this requires serious handling to accelerate the deterrent effect so that the reports are quickly followed up.
“Because some cases, no less than 20 cases are reported to the Ministry of Hajj per day. This requires serious and quick handling so that there is a deterrent effect, thus these reports in the future can be minimised or prevented, and even enforcement can be carried out,” he stated.
Harun expressed thanks to the National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, for the support in forming the Hajj task force. He hopes that with the task force, criminal acts can be addressed quickly and measurably.
“Hopefully, this Task Force can work quickly and measurably so that it can minimise crimes in the Hajj and Umrah sector,” he added.
