Hajj Supervisory Team Urges Pilgrims to Moderate Strenuous Activities Ahead of Hajj Peak at Armuzna
The Hajj Supervisory Team (Timwas) for Hajj 2026 of the Indonesian House of Representatives has issued an important appeal to Indonesian Hajj pilgrims currently in the Holy Land. Pilgrims for 2026 are asked to immediately reduce heavy physical activity to preserve stamina ahead of the Hajj peak in Arafah, Muzdalifah, and Mina (Armuzna).
Timwas Haji DPR RI member Hidayat Nur Wahid stressed that maintaining health while staying at hotels is the key to enabling pilgrims to perform the rites properly.
‘We want to ensure that when pilgrims are in their respective hotels, they can maximise worship while protecting health in preparation for the Hajj peak,’ Hidayat said in a press statement on Thursday (21 May 2026).
With the 2026 Indonesian Hajj quota reaching around 241,000, the high density in Mecca ahead of the journey to Arafah presents a major challenge. Timwas highlights the importance of effective mobility management to prevent extreme fatigue among pilgrims.
One confirmed strategy is the murur scheme (crossing Muzdalifah without alighting from the bus). This scheme is prioritised for elderly pilgrims, those with high health risk, and other pilgrims with physical limitations.
‘Who will murur and who will not murur must be ensured to receive proportional attention from the Hajj Organising Officers (PPIH),’ emphasised Hidayat.
Timwas Haji DPR RI assigns special attention to two vulnerable sectors, namely transportation and camp facilities, to prevent delays or crowding as in previous years.
The transport issue to Arafah, Mina, and back to Makkah is a primary supervisory concern. Parliament does not want to see a recurrence of fleet delays hindering pilgrims’ movements.
In addition to mobility, Timwas is conducting intensive checks on tents and supporting facilities at Arafah and Mina. The quality of facilities at the wukuf site and the jamrah throwing locations is critical to the smooth completion of the fifth pillar.
‘Tents at Arafah and Mina must be ready so that pilgrims can perform worship to the maximum and thoroughly,’ he concluded.
Pilgrims are urged to continue following the directions of health officials and not to overexert themselves performing Sunnah acts that drain energy in the hot weather of Mecca before the peak time arrives. (Ant/H-3)
The final group is nicknamed the Nusantara Cluster because it gathers pilgrims from 10 regencies in South Sulawesi, plus Southeast Sulawesi and Maluku.

Shalawat bus service facilitating Indonesian pilgrims from hotels to the Masjid al-Haram halted temporarily from Friday (22 May) 18:00 Saudi time ahead of the 2026 Hajj peak.
Amirulhaj member Muhaimin Iskandar assessed that the 2026 Hajj operational implementation has progressed smoothly as planned.
Kemenhaj has established an Armuzna Operational Task Force for the 2026 peak, and pilgrims are asked to adhere to the schedule from 25 May to avoid congestion at Arafah-Mina.
Head of the Armuzna Operations Unit (Kasatops) of PPIH Saudi Arabia 2026, Surnadi, stated that progress on the preparations for the Hajj peak 2026 is at 95%.
Awaiting the peak: the wukuf at Arafah, Mabit at Muzdalifah, and overnight at Mina (Armuzna), about 4,323 pilgrims from the Aceh embarkation have already departed for Mecca.
