Minister of Hajj and Umrah Mochammad Irfan Yusuf has stated that the increase in the 2026 Indonesian Hajj Service Satisfaction Index (IKLHI) is proof that the transformation of the Hajj pilgrimage organisation is being directly felt by pilgrims. Based on a survey by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), this year’s IKLHI reached 83.28 points, placing it in the satisfactory category.

According to Irfan Yusuf, this achievement demonstrates that the government’s various efforts to improve Hajj services are not only visible through field assessments but are now supported by quantitative data from an official BPS survey.

“Alhamdulillah, this year’s Hajj implementation went extraordinarily well. Thank you to the President for the establishment of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah. All this time, many have assessed that the organisation of the Hajj is getting better based on field observations,” Irfan Yusuf said at the BPS building in Jakarta on Thursday, 6 August 2026.

The man familiarly known as Gus Irfan said the survey results are an important indicator that the quality of service to pilgrims has improved compared to the previous year. He believes this year’s IKLHI achievement holds greater significance as it was attained in the first operational year of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah as a new entity.

He explained that the preparation process for the pilgrimage was carried out during a relatively short transition period of around three to four months following the ministry’s formation. Despite the limited preparation time, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah managed to coordinate approximately 7,000 personnel across various regions to support the implementation of the 1447 Hijri or 2026 Hajj season.

“Alhamdulillah, we were able to provide the best possible service to the pilgrims. This is the fruit of the prayers and hard work of all levels,” Gus Irfan said. He also expressed his appreciation to all Ministry of Hajj and Umrah officials, Hajj officers, and all stakeholders involved in this year’s pilgrimage organisation.

Gus Irfan noted that previously, improvements in the quality of Hajj organisation were mostly assessed qualitatively based on direct field observations. Now, these results are reinforced by quantitative data through the BPS survey, allowing service quality to be measured more objectively.
