JAKARTA — Indonesia’s Anti-Corruption Commission (KPK) has disclosed various pieces of evidence used by investigators to implicate former Religious Affairs Minister Yaqut Cholil Qoumas in an alleged hajj quota corruption case.

Asep Guntur Rahayu, Deputy for Prosecution and Enforcement at the KPK, stated that investigators collected multiple forms of evidence to ensure the case construction was legally sound.

“We certainly do not wish to act carelessly in determining the existence of criminal conduct. Therefore, investigators confirmed various possibilities by gathering several pieces of evidence,” Asep said during a press conference at KPK’s Red and White Building in Jakarta on Thursday, 12 March 2026.

The evidence includes electronic exhibits, witness statements, and various documents and records related to the case.

In this investigation, the KPK also traced the role of Ishfah Abidal Aziz, commonly known as Gus Alex.

According to Asep, investigators found indications that actions taken by Gus Alex were allegedly carried out on Yaqut’s orders and with his knowledge.

“This is supported by other statements and evidence, both in the form of electronic evidence and other physical evidence,” Asep stated.

The KPK emphasised that all such evidence serves as the basis for investigators in determining and implicating the parties involved in the alleged hajj quota corruption case.
