The Hajj Organising Committee (PPIH) for the Medan Embarkation has advised 5,990 prospective pilgrims from North Sumatra not to upload their Nusuk Cards on social media. Chairman of the PPIH Medan Embarkation, Zulkifli Sitorus, stated that the Nusuk Card contains complete data on prospective pilgrims, which could be misused by irresponsible parties. “The Nusuk Card includes full identity details, transportation services, accommodation, meals, and a barcode. Do not photograph and disseminate it,” Zulkifli said after seeing off the JCH of Cluster 12 from the Medan Embarkation at the Medan Hajj Hostel on Tuesday (6/5/2026). Zulkifli, who also serves as Head of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah for North Sumatra Province, emphasised that the Nusuk Card is a vital document for Indonesian prospective pilgrims. Therefore, he continued, the Nusuk Card must be safeguarded by every Indonesian pilgrim, especially those from North Sumatra, while in the Holy Land. “Without the Nusuk Card, pilgrims will not be allowed into the Masjidil Haram to perform tawaf and sai,” he said. Even during wukuf at Arafah, this Nusuk Card is a primary requirement. “If one cannot enter Arafah, the Hajj is invalid,” Zulkifli stressed. He also stated that departing for Hajj is a sacred calling that should be appreciated. Therefore, he asked pilgrims to maintain physical and mental readiness so that the entire worship process runs smoothly during this year’s Hajj season. “We also remind pilgrims to maintain unity and help each other while in the Holy Land, without distinguishing by regional origin,” he said. Data from the PPIH Medan Embarkation indicates that 5,990 prospective pilgrims, including 68 Hajj officials from North Sumatra, will be sent to the Holy Land from 22 April to 11 May 2026. Up to the departure of Cluster 12 from the Medan Embarkation today, a total of 4,305 prospective pilgrims, including 48 Hajj officials or 71.87 percent, have arrived in the Holy Land. “The blessings of Hajj are not only measured by the number of ritual worships, but by how pilgrims bring about social piety, mutual care, and benefits to others,” Zulkifli remarked.
