JAKARTA - The Head of the Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) at the Pondok Gede Hajj Dormitory, Muhammad Ali Zakiyudin, has reminded prospective Hajj pilgrims not to bring prohibited items, such as cigarettes.

“If it’s cigarettes, there is immigration here. Everything will be X-rayed upon first entry. Then, before departure, it will be X-rayed again. So there are two stages. Luggage entry, suitcases entry, X-rayed. Any prohibited items will be automatically sorted out there,” Ali explained when met at the Pondok Gede Hajj Dormitory, Jakarta, on Monday (20/4/2026).

Ali explained that there are 19 flight groups (kloter) that will be served at the Pondok Gede Hajj Dormitory.

“The plan for the Pondok Gede Hajj Dormitory is that pilgrims will arrive tomorrow morning at 06.00 to gather here for registration related to various required document completions for the pilgrims as well as the collection of pilgrims’ suitcases which will later be transported to the airport by separate vehicles,” Ali said.

Upon arrival at the dormitory, prospective Hajj pilgrims will undergo several stages, starting from health checks, passport verifications, to the activation of Nusuk as the official digital and physical identity.

Ali assured that all facilities at the Pondok Gede Hajj Dormitory are ready to be used by the prospective Hajj pilgrims.

Previously, ahead of the arrival of the first kloter of Hajj pilgrims, several room facilities at the Pondok Gede Hajj Dormitory in East Jakarta have been prepared to welcome the pilgrims.

From Kompas.com’s observations, receptionist staff at one of the dormitory buildings appeared to be on standby to welcome the pilgrims’ arrival in the morning.

In addition, various supporting facilities are available, such as mini-fridges, televisions, wardrobes, and towels that have been prepared on the table.

Each room is also equipped with two bathrooms with sitting toilets and squat toilets, as well as shower facilities.

Not only that, room air conditioning (AC) that feels cold and room fresheners further complement the comfort of the rooms for the pilgrims.
