Hajj Pilgrims' Catering Services Must Be Prioritised During 2026 Peak Phase
DPR Hajj Oversight Team member Siti Mukaromah stressed the importance of catering services for pilgrims during the peak Hajj phase in Arafah, Muzdalifah, and Mina (Armuzna). Food is crucial to ensure pilgrims have the physical strength to endure the 2026 Hajj peak rituals. “Catering is a critical and urgent sector as it concerns the basic needs of pilgrims undertaking physically demanding rituals during Armuzna,” Siti stated in a statement quoted on Monday, 25 May 2026. She added that the situation could cause concern among pilgrims. “We hope food supplies arrive promptly so that provisions are ready for pilgrims before departing for Arafah. Pilgrims should not leave without adequate food supplies,” Siti said. She also called for improvements in food distribution to accommodate all departure schedules to Armuzna. “This means catering needs for pilgrims departing in the afternoon, evening, or night must be ensured. This must not be overlooked,” Siti said. “If there are obstacles, the Ministry of Hajj must act swiftly and intelligently to resolve the issue. The priority is ensuring pilgrims feel safe, comfortable, and receive the best service during Hajj,” she added. Previously, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (MoHU) stated that the peak Hajj phase would begin on 8 Zulhijah 1447 AH, corresponding to Monday, 25 May 2026. The peak Hajj rituals will commence with pilgrims departing for Arafah before performing the wuquf. “Upon arrival at Arafah, pilgrims will stay overnight and prepare for the wuquf the following day, which is the pinnacle of Hajj rituals,” said MoHU spokesperson Maria Assegaff in a press conference via YouTube on Tuesday, 19 May 2026. “The Armuzna phase is the core of the Hajj rituals and the most critical stage in its execution,” Maria added.
