Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak, revealed that the death toll among Indonesian Hajj pilgrims during the 1447 Hijriyah/2026 Gregorian Hajj season has significantly decreased compared to last year. This achievement serves as a positive indicator of this year’s Hajj management.

According to Dahnil, the current count of deceased Indonesian pilgrims is around 134, a marked reduction from the 267 recorded at the same period last year.

“This is a positive note for us. By the same date last year, the number of deceased pilgrims had already reached 267, whereas this year it is approximately 130,” Dahnil stated at his tent in Mina on Saturday, 30 May 2026.

He attributed the decline to improvements in various aspects of Hajj services, particularly health and pilgrim mobility during the rituals in Arafah, Muzdalifah, and Mina (Armuzna).

Nevertheless, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah will continue efforts to reduce pilgrim deaths through enhanced health services and stricter monitoring of physical conditions, especially for elderly and high-risk groups.
