The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (Kemenhaj) has strengthened readiness for the peak phase of the Hajj pilgrimage 1447 H/2026 AD in Arafah, Muzdalifah, and Mina (Armuzna) by establishing a dedicated Operational Unit. This move aims to mitigate the risks of overcrowding as millions of pilgrims move concurrently from Monday, 25 May 2026.

Kemenhaj spokesperson, Maria Assegaff, explained that the Armuzna phase is the most challenging due to mass mobilization in a restricted area. By day 29 of Hajj operations, 182,332 pilgrims from 472 groups had arrived in Mecca and were preparing for the peak.

“Mobility management, schedule discipline, compliance with directions from officials, and the physical readiness of the 2026 Indonesian pilgrims are crucial. Kemenhaj has formed an Armuzna Operational Unit to ensure pilgrim movement is gradual, measured, and based on density mitigation,” she said in Jakarta on Tuesday (19 May).

According to the official schedule, departure of pilgrims from Mecca to Arafah will begin on 8 Dhul-Hijjah or 25 May 2026 in three waves (06:00, 11:30, and 17:30 WAS). All pilgrims are targeted to be in Arafah before midnight to perform the wuquf on Tuesday, 26 May 2026.

Kemenhaj is also implementing a murur (pass-through without alighting) scheme in Muzdalifah for certain pilgrims to ease density. For regular pilgrims, movement from Muzdalifah to Mina will take place from 23:00 WAS until the morning of 10 Dhul-Hijjah.

Regarding physical condition, Maria reminded pilgrims not to overextend themselves, especially during the jamrah stoning ritual in Mina. “Do not push yourselves when health conditions do not permit. Sharia provides concessions through the badal lontar mechanism for pilgrims with uzur (excuses),” she emphasised.

Pilgrims are urged to stay with their groups, carry identity documents, and conserve energy to ensure smooth operations through the entire series of rites up to the first or second day of departure. Kemenhaj affirms 24-hour monitoring to ensure health and transport services remain optimal during the critical phase.

Head of the Armuzna Operations Unit (Kasatops) of PPIH Arab Saudi 2026, Surnadi, said progress in preparations for Hajj 2026 has reached 95 percent. Around 4,323 Indonesian pilgrims from Aceh Embarkation have already departed for Mecca ahead of Armuzna’s peak. Saudi authorities use the lighting system on the iconic clock tower to mark the official Hijri month change.

Hajj Organising Officers (PPIH) in Saudi Arabia have formed a Special Team (Timsus) Mina to optimise protection services and guidance for the 2026 pilgrims. PPIH Saudi Arabia continues refining the murur scheme for Indonesian pilgrims ahead of the fifth pillar of Islam in Armuzna. Indonesian pilgrims will receive ready-to-eat meals (RTE) during the Armuzna phase, practical, hygienic, and containing at least 50% Indonesian-sourced ingredients. Surnadi said the progress for the peak preparations has reached 95 percent. The first category prepared for Armuzna’s main days, 8–12 Dhul-Hijjah, totals 1,849,680 packages.
