Hajj Peak Phase: Monitoring Team Urges Officials to Ensure No Pilgrims Left Behind

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Member of the DPR RI Hajj Monitoring Team (Timwas), Maman Imanul Haq, has warned that the route from Muzdalifah to Mina is one of the most vulnerable and critical points during the Hajj peak phase (Armuzna).

He urged the government to ensure smooth transportation for Indonesian Hajj pilgrims from Muzdalifah to Mina.

“Alhamdulillah, we are grateful that all Indonesian Hajj pilgrims have safely reached Arafah for the wukuf ritual. However, equally critical is ensuring all pilgrims are transported from Muzdalifah to Mina,” Maman said in a statement on Tuesday 26 May 2026.

“The density of millions of people and the scorching Saudi Arabian heat pose real threats, especially to elderly pilgrims, those with disabilities, and high-risk individuals,” he added.

The National Awakening Party (PKB) politician called for on-ground officials to conduct thorough checks to ensure no pilgrims are left behind in Arafah or Muzdalifah.

The government must ensure bus fleets are capable of transporting all pilgrims to Mina in a disciplined and timely manner, he said.

Maman also urged Hajj officials to provide optimal service through intensive accompaniment, particularly for elderly and those requiring special assistance.

“Armuzna is a critical phase where pilgrims’ health risks are truly tested, requiring special attention from officials,” he said.
