Hajj Oversight Team Urges Special Attention to Elderly Pilgrims
The Hajj Oversight Team of the Indonesian Parliament has requested that all hajj officials provide special attention to elderly pilgrims.
The request was made directly by a member of the 2026 Hajj Oversight Team, Maman Imanul Haq, in relation to the extreme heat occurring in Saudi Arabia during this year’s hajj season.
According to him, the elderly are the most vulnerable group to experience health problems due to high temperatures and strenuous physical activity during the pilgrimage. Therefore, the presence of healthcare officials and field assistants must be truly optimal.
“Healthcare and pilgrim protection. We ask that officials be present for pilgrims, especially the elderly,” said Maman as he departed for Saudi Arabia via Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Jakarta, on Sunday (17/5).
In addition to officials, Maman also reminded pilgrims to maintain their health while in the Holy Land. He asked pilgrims to drink more water and follow the instructions of officials to avoid the risk of dehydration and fatigue.
“My message to pilgrims is to take care of your health, drink plenty of water, and follow the instructions of officials,” he said.
The Hajj Oversight Team of the Indonesian Parliament will continue to monitor all aspects of hajj services so that pilgrims receive safe and comfortable service. He affirmed that monitoring is carried out as a form of responsibility for the use of funds paid by the public.
“We want this year’s hajj to be successful, comfortable, and of course blessed for everyone,” he concluded.
