Nasir DJamil, a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives’ Haj Oversight Team (Timwas), stated that the Hajj for Indonesian pilgrims continues to face the same challenges as previous years.

“We continue to encounter issues that have persistently occurred in previous years,” Nasir said in a statement on Thursday, 28 May 2026.

He highlighted that the scheduling of buses to pick up Indonesian pilgrims remains delayed. Additionally, the Distribution of ready-to-consume meals has not been optimal.

“Issues include delayed buses for pilgrims, as well as problems with meals being late or even not provided at all,” Nasir added.

He noted that these issues indicate the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah is not adequately prepared for the Hajj proceedings.

Nasir emphasised that operational experience over the years should be leveraged to implement improvements.

“We acknowledge that managing hundreds of thousands of pilgrims from across Indonesia’s provinces is no simple task,” he said.

“However, years of experience in managing Hajj should enable us to mitigate risks and reduce potential issues faced by pilgrims,” Nasir concluded.
