Hajj Operations Update: 17,747 Indonesian Pilgrims Arrive in Madinah
JAKARTA - Entering the sixth day of the 1447 Hijri Hajj operations, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has dispatched 28,274 pilgrims to Madinah, Saudi Arabia. “Cumulatively, the number of pilgrims dispatched to the Holy Land up to today totals 72 batches with 28,274 individuals,” stated Spokesperson for the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, Maria Assegaff, during an online press conference on Sunday (26/4/2026). Maria revealed that 45 batches, totalling 17,747 pilgrims, have arrived in Madinah and are staying in prepared hotels. The entire arrival process is reported to proceed orderly, with Hajj officials accompanying pilgrims from the airport to the hotel. To improve comfort and service efficiency, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has reactivated the fast-track or Mekkah Road programme at several departure airports in Indonesia. This service is available at Soekarno-Hatta Airport for pilgrims from the Jakarta-Pondok Gede, Jakarta-Bekasi, and Banten embarkation points. Fast-track services are also provided at Adi Soemarmo Solo Airport, Juanda Surabaya Airport, and Sultan Hasanuddin Makassar Airport. Through this service, Saudi immigration procedures are completed in Indonesia, so pilgrims do not need to queue for long upon arrival in Jeddah or Madinah. The government also ensures air transport readiness using Garuda Indonesia and Saudia Airlines airlines. While at the embarkation points, pilgrims receive comprehensive services before departure, including final health checks. The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah ensures that accommodation facilities at embarkation points are well-prepared so pilgrims get proper rest before departure. “From the consumption side as well, the pilgrims receive food that we have calculated for nutrition and according to needs, so their physical condition remains maintained during the departure process and then upon arrival in the Holy Land, they can immediately worship with devotion and in good health,” she explained.
