Hajj Monitoring Team Says Pilgrims Complain of Insufficient Vegetables in Meal Menus
Members of the DPR RI Hajj Monitoring Team, Bambang Haryo Soekartono, highlighted concerns over the nutritional intake in the main meals provided to Indonesian Hajj pilgrims. He reported receiving complaints from some pilgrims about the lack of green vegetables in their meals. ‘They only complained about the vegetables,’ Bambang stated in a written release on Friday, 29 May 2026. Bambang said these complaints should be used for evaluating next year’s Hajj operations, stressing that adding more green vegetables is crucial for balanced nutrition. ‘Green vegetables need to be increased in future years,’ he added. On a positive note, he noted that services for elderly pilgrims were adequate, with golf carts provided to assist those with mobility issues to reach the stoning ritual site. ‘Golf cart services are also provided for the elderly, mothers, and others unable to walk to the stoning area,’ he explained. Bambang also praised the strategic placement of regular pilgrims’ tents, which are closer to the stoning site and other key locations compared to previous years. ‘The placement of regular Hajj pilgrims is positioned not too far from the stoning site and other areas. I think this is very good,’ he said.
