Hajj Ministry Urges Pilgrims to Guard Passports for Smooth Return

The 2026 Hajj season has entered its return phase. The Indonesian Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (Kemenhaj) has reminded all Indonesian pilgrims returning to the homeland to safeguard their passports as carefully as possible during this period.

Passports are vital travel documents and serve as the primary requirement for the repatriation process of pilgrims from Saudi Arabia to Indonesia.

Kemenhaj Spokesperson, Ichsan Marsha, stated that pilgrims need to pay special attention to their travel documents and belongings to ensure a smooth return journey.

“We urge all pilgrims to look after their passports properly and ensure they are not lost. Store your passport in a safe, accessible place and keep it under constant supervision. Losing a passport can hinder the return process and require additional administrative handling,” Ichsan Marsha said in a press release on Thursday (4/6/2026).

In the event of a lost passport, pilgrims are requested to immediately report to their group leader (ketua kloter) or Hajj officials so that the matter can be addressed promptly in accordance with applicable procedures.

As of the second day of the return phase, 44 flight groups (kloter), comprising a total of 17,445 pilgrims and officials, have been dispatched from Saudi Arabia to Indonesia. Of that number, 38 groups, or 15,086 pilgrims and officials, have already arrived in the homeland.
