Hajj Minister praises Indonesian pilgrims' discipline and prepares for 2027 Hajj
Makkah - Hajj Minister Mochamad Irfan Yusuf praised Indonesian pilgrims for their cooperation and discipline in following officials’ instructions during the Arafah, Muzdalifah, and Mina phases.
‘I extend my appreciation to Indonesian pilgrims for their orderly conduct throughout the Hajj rituals. I also thank all staff for their dedicated work. May Indonesian pilgrims attain a mabrur Hajj,’ the minister said in Makkah on Sunday.
The peak Hajj phase in Mina officially concluded on 13 Zulhijjah 1447H. All Indonesian pilgrims who opted for nafar tsani safely and orderly returned to their Makkah hotels after completing their rituals.
Minister Yusuf expressed gratitude for the smooth execution of this year’s Hajj peak phase, attributing its success to collaborative efforts among organisers, staff, and pilgrims.
‘Alhamdulillah, the Mina phase has concluded successfully. At 15:00 Saudi time today, all Indonesian pilgrims have left Mina and returned to their Makkah hotels. Mina is clear of Indonesian pilgrims,’ he stated.
Yusuf explained that pilgrims who chose nafar awal returned to hotels on 12 Zulhijjah, while those opting for nafar tsani departed on 13 Zulhijjah after completing rituals in Mina.
Despite the conclusion of the Mina phase, the minister stressed that services for pilgrims continue. Some have already performed tawaf ifadah between 10-13 Zulhijjah, while others will complete it and other rituals before returning home.
He instructed the Saudi Hajj Operational Staff (PPIH) to continue accompanying pilgrims yet to perform tawaf ifadah, to manage crowd congestion and prioritise elderly and high-risk pilgrims.
Yusuf also urged pilgrims to maintain their health after completing the peak rituals, as repatriation to Indonesia will begin on 1 June and continue until 30 June 2026.
‘We advise pilgrims to stay healthy, rest adequately, and follow staff instructions. Repatriation will proceed gradually from 1 June to 30 June,’ he added.
He noted that the end of the Mina phase does not mark the conclusion of Hajj operations. The Ministry of Hajj will conduct a comprehensive evaluation of all service stages to improve future arrangements.
On 29 May 2026, the ministry received initial information and timelines for the 2027 Hajj from the Saudi government, which will serve as the basis for early preparations.
The ministry, in collaboration with Indonesia’s House of Representatives (DPR RI), is committed to strengthening synergy for a more thorough preparation of the 2027 Hajj operations.
Yusuf highlighted that early preparation for the 2026 Hajj significantly improved operational orderliness, service quality, and readiness of all stakeholders.
‘Evaluations and preparations must start early. This year’s experience shows early preparation greatly enhances orderliness, service quality, and stakeholder readiness. We aim for a better-organised, elderly-friendly, and safer 2027 Hajj that brings greater happiness to pilgrims,’ he said.
