The distribution of luggage for prospective Hajj pilgrims in Yogyakarta City for 2026 has experienced a slight delay. As of mid-April, the luggage has only been received by the initial batches of pilgrims, while subsequent batches are still awaiting distribution from the airline. This situation has drawn attention amid the rising enthusiasm for this year’s Hajj departure. The Head of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (Kemenhaj) in Yogyakarta, Irfan Zainudin, explained that the delay is due to technical issues from the airline. “For now in Yogyakarta, only batches 1-4 have received (the luggage). Insha Allah, batches 5 and 6 will follow soon. Yesterday, Garuda informed us of the delay due to technical problems,” he said during the Hajj Farewell Recitation event at Grha Pandawa Balaikota. Nevertheless, Irfan assured that the luggage distribution will be completed promptly. Nationally, the distribution is targeted to be finalised no later than 25 April 2026. However, for Yogyakarta, Irfan is optimistic that the process can be finished earlier. “We are continuously working to accelerate it and ensure that the pilgrims’ rights are fulfilled,” he stated. Irfan also reminded prospective Hajj pilgrims to remain patient and maintain a positive outlook in facing this situation. “The special nature of Hajj requires husnudzon and patience. If one thinks ‘I’m short of this, why is it like this’, it won’t get done. We continue to serve and will soon inform you of your rights,” he said.
