Hajj Fund Benefits Cover 35 Per Cent of Costs, Enhancing Pilgrim Services
Behind the hotel services, catering, transport, and various facilities enjoyed by Indonesian Hajj pilgrims in the Holy Land, there is professional fund management conducted by the Hajj Financial Management Agency (BPKH). The results of this management not only ensure the sustainability of the pilgrims’ funds but also play a significant role in helping to reduce the costs that prospective Hajj pilgrims must pay.
Munarti (51), an Indonesian pilgrim from Mampang Prapatan, South Jakarta, expressed that she has directly felt the benefits of the fund management carried out by BPKH. After waiting 13 years to depart for the Holy Land, she noted that the Hajj services she received this year showed a significant improvement.
“I am aware that the pilgrims’ Hajj funds are managed by BPKH. This is important so that the funds of millions of pilgrims do not remain stagnant, ensuring that Hajj costs remain affordable for Indonesian pilgrims,” Munarti told Republika.co.id on Sunday (31/05/2026).
Munarti shared that while in Makkah, she stayed in a hotel in the Misfalah area, approximately two kilometres from the Masjidil Haram. Although the hotel was a one-star category, she found the service to be quite satisfactory.
“The water supply has been smooth so far, and the air conditioning in the room is cold. Although the lift occasionally malfunctions, the hotel staff responds quickly to any complaints from pilgrims,” she said.
She also praised the catering services provided to pilgrims during their stay in the Holy Land. According to her, meals were served punctually with menus suited to Indonesian tastes.
“The food service is also extraordinary, provided three times a day, complete with fruit and occasionally supplemented with juice, milk, and dates. The preparation is on time, and drinking water is abundant. The flavour of the food is generally acceptable to the Indonesian palate,” she added.
