Four airports in Indonesia are now equipped with Mecca Route facilities from Saudi Arabia to support the departure of Hajj pilgrims in 2026. According to InJourney Airports’ President Director Mohammad Rizal Pahlevi, the number of airports with Mecca Route facilities from Saudi Arabia has increased to four for this year’s Hajj transportation. The four airports are Sultan Hasanuddin Airport, Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Juanda Airport, and Adi Soemarmo Airport. “Sultan Hasanuddin Airport in Makassar has Mecca Route available for the first time,” Rizal said on Sunday, 19 April 2026. PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia (InJourney Airports) will serve 205,333 Hajj pilgrims to the Holy Land starting 22 April 2026. The departure of Hajj pilgrims is carried out at 19 airports managed by the company. Mecca Route is a Saudi immigration facility. This facility is provided so that passport checks can be conducted earlier at the embarkation airports in Indonesia. “This facilitates Hajj pilgrims upon arrival at Jeddah or Madinah airports,” Rizal said. He emphasised that InJourney Airports fully supports this facility by providing the necessary infrastructure for Mecca Route. Rizal explained that for the four airports with Mecca Route, the pre-departure security checks are conducted at the Hajj dormitories. In line with this, Rizal said, InJourney Airports is preparing Aviation Security personnel and facilities, such as X-ray machines, walk-through metal detectors (WTMD), and hand-held metal detectors (HHTD), to inspect people and their luggage at the Hajj dormitories.
