JAKARTA – The Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Mochamad Irfan Yusuf, has disclosed that the process of transferring assets from the Ministry of Religious Affairs to the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah continues to encounter several obstacles.

The statement was made during a working meeting with Commission VIII of the Indonesian Parliament in Jakarta on Thursday, 12 March 2026.

The assets being transferred originate from various sources, including the State Budget (APBN), hajj financing, and other legitimate sources of acquisition. The transfer also encompasses assets currently in use as well as those no longer utilised for the administration of hajj and umrah pilgrimages.

Irfan stated that several assets are no longer directly used for hajj and umrah activities but still require further coordination regarding their status and future use.

“There are several assets that are no longer used for hajj and umrah and still require further coordination. Although no longer used for hajj and umrah, this does not mean we do not require them – we still need them for hajj and umrah operations,” Irfan said during the working meeting.

An official residence on Jalan Kebon Sirih in Jakarta is also among the assets requiring further clarification. The residence is currently occupied by the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

Irfan acknowledged that he occupies an official residence that remains administratively registered as an asset of the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

“The official residence on Jalan Kebon Sirih is currently occupied by the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, whilst I occupy an official residence registered as an asset of the Ministry of Religious Affairs. Perhaps if necessary we could exchange properties or find another arrangement,” he noted.

Additionally, several other facilities require further organisation during the asset transfer process. These facilities include the Hajj Information Centre in Batam, the Seskoal Building on Jalan Lapangan Banteng, and Haji Hospital Pondok Gede.

Haji Hospital Pondok Gede requires further discussion regarding its management status. The Ministry of Religious Affairs previously transferred management of the hospital to Jakarta Islamic State University (UIN Jakarta).

“Haji Hospital Pondok Gede may also require more detailed consideration because the Ministry of Religious Affairs has already transferred it to UIN Jakarta, but there are still some documents that bear the hajj designation,” he said.
