REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, LEBAK — A pilgrim from Lebak Regency, Banten Province, passed away in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, on Monday (1/6) after falling in the bathroom while preparing to take water for wudu (ablution) to perform the Asr prayer.

“The victim, identified as Adsuki (66), a resident of Cibeber, Lebak, was referred to An Nur Hospital, Saudi Arabia,” said the Head of the Lebak Regency Office of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (Kemenhaj), Halimatussa’diah, in Lebak, Wednesday (3/6/2026).

The pilgrim from Lebak, part of the 18th group, was suspected of having stomach problems based on information from his family, who were also in the same group. The deceased was initially treated at An Nur Hospital, Saudi Arabia, but passed away at 18:30 local time. “The deceased was buried in Mecca, Saudi Arabia,” said Halimatussa’diah.

She stated that the 18th group consists of 391 pilgrims, most of whom are elderly. They departed for the Holy Land on May 15, 2026, and were seen off by the Regent of Lebak, Mochamad Hasbi Asyidiki.

So far, they have only received one report of a pilgrim from Lebak passing away. Therefore, she urged pilgrims to maintain their health, get enough rest, and consume nutritious food after the peak of the Hajj pilgrimage.

In addition, she urged pilgrims with specific medical conditions to pay attention to their medication schedules and always coordinate with medical personnel if they feel unwell.

“We hope that the pilgrims from Lebak will be given good health and can return to their homeland safely and achieve a blessed Hajj,” said the Head of the Lebak Kemenhaj Office, Halimatussa’diah.
