Haj terminal ready to operate

TANGERANG: Minister of Communications Agum Gumelar officiated on Friday the inauguration of the special airport terminal for haj pilgrims at the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. It is set to receive pilgrims on Feb. 6.

Agum was accompanied by Minister of Religious Affairs Said Agil Al Munawar and the director of airport operator PT Angkasa Pura II, Eddy Haryoto.

The 3,750-square-meter terminal was formerly the Indonesian Air Show compound. According to Eddy, the terminal can accommodate 1,500 haj pilgrims.

"God willing, there will be no illegal fees here, not like the neighboring Terminal III for overseas migrant workers," Said Agil told reporters. -- JP
