Hair-raising 'Superman' ice-block stunt on Bogor motorbike
An ice-courier riding a motorcycle through Bogor, West Java, has drawn attention for a dramatic display of balance and risk. The rider appeared to fly as if he were Superman, with the motorcycle loaded with large bags of ice.
The moment captured by a bystander has gone viral on social media.
The rider did not appear to sit in the saddle; instead, he leaned back over the ice blocks as the bike advanced, using only his hands on the handlebars and letting his legs dangle at the rear. He wore a cap and covered his face with a buff, leaving only his eyes visible.
The incident occurred on Jalan KH Abdullah Bin Nuh in the Bogor Barat district a few days earlier. ‘Yes, in Bogor,’ said Cita, a resident who recorded the video, when contacted by detikcom on Friday, 22 May.
In the clip, the rider is seen travelling along the Semplak Bridge towards the Semplak traffic light. He carried eight large bags of ice stacked at various corners of the motorcycle.
The rider could only recline onto the ice blocks as the machine moved in the left-hand lane. The motorbike, black and white, appeared not to have a number plate. The footage shows the bike and rider swaying while crossing the bridge joint. Traffic in the area was fairly busy.
‘I was frightened to see such an act — it endangers both the rider and other road users,’ said Cita. The video shows the rider continued for a considerable distance before disappearing from view.
‘Didn’t expect him to ride towards Cilendek. I saw him travel for about 1.3 kilometres; after that he was no longer visible as he had moved ahead,’ she added.
Police warnings
Bogor Barat Police Chief Comm. Didin Komarudin said they had not received a report about the incident. He urged motorists to obey traffic regulations and not carry excessive loads.
‘There hasn’t been a report yet; the message is to comply with road rules. If you drive, do so in an orderly fashion, and don’t load too much to avoid endangering yourself or others,’ Didin said on Thursday, 22 May.
Separately, Bogor City Traffic Police head AKP Robby Rachman said the force would act if similar cases are found, and enforcement would extend to other violations as well.
‘We will take action for sure; we have already acted against loud exhausts and riders without helmets,’ Robby said.
