Haidh supplications: Arabic, Latin and their meanings
The Haidh supplication is a prayer or dhikr recited by a Muslim woman during her menstrual period, when she is not permitted to perform salat and fasting for a time.
In Islam, there is, in fact, no specific du’a prescribed for women during menstruation. Nevertheless, Muslim women are encouraged to engage in dhikr, seek istighfar (forgiveness), supplicate to Allah, and recite supplications of virtue.
Arabic texts:
Arabic: [not shown]
Latin: Astaghfirullahal ’adzim
Meaning: I seek forgiveness from Allah, the Almighty.
Arabic: Subhanallah
Latin: Subhanallah
Meaning: Glory be to Allah.
Arabic: Rabbana atina fid-dunya hasanah wa fil-akhirati hasanah wa qina ’adzabannar
Latin: Rabbana atina fid-dunya hasanah wa fil-akhirati hasanah wa qina ’adzabannar
Meaning: Our Lord, grant us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.
The Haidh supplication is a form of worship comprising prayer and dhikr that can be observed during haid, because although she cannot perform salat, a Muslim woman can still worship by praying to Allah.
