Hadiths That Prohibit Homosexual Acts Such as Gay and Lesbian Relations

In addition to several verses of the Quran, the prohibition of same-sex sexual relations is also explained in various hadiths of the Prophet Muhammad SAW. A number of narrations mention the prohibition of behaviour that can lead to homosexual relations, whether committed by men (gay) or women (lesbian).

From Abdullah bin Mas’ud, who said that the Prophet Muhammad SAW said, “A woman should not have skin contact (in one garment) with another woman, lest she describes it to her husband as if he is seeing it.” (Narrated by Imam Al-Bukhari)

From Abdur Rahman bin Abu Sa’id Al-Khudri, from his father, that the Messenger of Allah SAW said, “A man should not look at the private parts of another man, and a woman should not look at the private parts of another woman. A man should not have skin contact with another man in one garment, and a woman should not have skin contact with another woman in one garment.” (Narrated by Imam Muslim)

From Abu Hurairah, who said that the Messenger of Allah SAW said, “A woman should not have skin contact (without clothing) with another woman, and a man should not have skin contact (without clothing) with another man.” (Narrated by Imam Ahmad and Abu Dawud)

These hadiths explain that the gratification of sexual desire with the same sex is considered adultery, as cited from the Fatwa of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) Number 57 of 2014 concerning Lesbian, Gay, Sodomy, and Sexual Abuse.
